Friends and Family
This week was probably the hardest on my mission so far, we found out that an elder I was in the MTC with passed away, I found out and was crushed. Luckily as a Sister Training Leader I could call Elder Norman (who was in the MTC with me) and we just sat there in silence (cause you can counsel elders and elders can't counsel sisters) and just cried. My heart is broken! He was such an incredible missionary and elder! Taught me so much working around him!! God knew he needed to be home with him in heaven and his work still isn't done. the work is going forth with so much power on BOTH SIDES OF THE VEIL.
This week was a whole lot of not a lot.. When your comp is about ready to go home you spend most time taking tests and helping her prepare to go home. but all is well!
I improved my cooking/baking skills heaps!! used that when we went to visit members, I think they love me!
Then we went to visit this cute less active and her 3 boys are NUTS! imagine as crazy as my 3 brothers but 100 times worse! they were so funny and just wanted to floss (dance) and fight.. if I could i woulda taken them down!! I think we will be able to get them back to church and finally have some youth! ;)
Did a lot of river front finding, even had to wear a jumper on day. hahah I think 80 degress is cold now cause i'm so used to over 100! sad.
Then we had a Leadership Council and talked about a baptismal goal. and let me just tell you, you endowed members holding temple reccomends you are the ones missionaries are targeting for referrals it takes us 3500 doors knocked to find 1 baptism, but it takes talking to 6 members to get one. Please where ever you are give the missionaries a referral. (maybe not in Utah unless you're in YSA) cause we hear they have over 400 referrals every week! ;) jokes i'm sure they would love it..
but yeah transfers happend and I AM STAYING!! SO HAPPY! and my new companion is another samoan Sister Ami!! :) so excited its only her 3rd transfer! I'm so excited to meet her..
sad news is Sister Cobbley who is in mildura sisters is training a sister who won't be here till friday and she has to be with a companion. So Sister Ami and I are staying in Mildura for a week. kinda like last transfer I'll have a 5 week transfer... I hate it but I do love the people the sisters in Mildura are teaching so I'm excited to spend time with them! actually teaching lessons!!
It was a hard week, but a good one. Plan of Salvation is real, God knows us, and my Mission President says I'm the first one to make him laugh in a weekly email. In Zone Conference he was making a scenario and used me. I was being asked on a date after a class at uni when I go home, I say "yes, I'll go on a date what are we going to do?" he says, "go to the ring store and get a ring" (relating that to us missionaries asking people to baptism when they don't know the church doctrines/teachings). But President Marquis said to let him know how that goes. I was starting the Book of Mormon over again and needed a question or something to look for while reading, so I told President that my question was, "How do I deal with this ring shop first date guy" and he laughed. none of you will but I thought it was good, and so did he. so go Sister Standage making President Marquis laugh in emails!
also Arianna, my zone leader this past transfer was from ukraine and everytime i talked to him I would think of you and think, "yeah this is as close to serving in Russia as I'll get!"
Cooled down a bit this week so I am surving, just sad i am losing my tan!! Don't worry I'll get it back before I come home in 9 months..
How in the world and I half way done with my mission?! I just got here!
I love you all
xoxo Sister Standage
